DUSHANBE, July 27, 2016, Asia-Plus – During a visit to the Hamadoni district in Khatlon province, President Emomali Rahmon has once again expressed concern about radicalization of Tajik youth and participation of them in foreign armed conflicts.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, his concern came during an address to a meeting of regional administrators in the administrative center of the Hamdoni district on July 27.

Rahmon noted that 22 residents of the district were illegally participating in foreign armed conflicts.  “Two local families consisting of 12 people have left Tajikistan for Syria to fight alongside terrorist organizations,” the president said, noting that two residents of the Hamadoni district were killed in Syria.

According to data from the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan, more than 1,000 nationals of Tajikistan are illegally participating in armed conflicts in other countries.
