Briefing on security situation in Afghanistan held in Dushanbe last week

DUSHANBE, July 25, 2016, Asia-Plus – The United States delegation, led by Laurel Miller, Principal Deputy Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Office of the Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan [SRAP], Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs [SCA], United States Department of State, gave a briefing on the security situation in Afghanistan to Tajikistan’s officials in Dushanbe on July 22.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the briefing that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan was attended by the representatives of power-wielding structures and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

At the end of the meeting, the US delegation answered to various questions of the Tajik side on the subject, the source said.

The United States has reportedly given a briefing on Afghanistan to Central Asia’s nations since 2011.  The purpose of the briefing is to exchange views on the process of establishing and maintaining peace and security in Afghanistan.
