DUSHANBE, April 19, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained  employee of president’s office, who is accused of corruption.

An official source at the Shuroi Adliya (Justice Council) says the criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 259 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – illegal entrepreneurship.

If convicted, he would face a 12,000 somoni fine or up to five years in prison.

We will recall that a 34-year-old Qadamjon Safizoda, the head of the Center for Information and Communications Technologies at President’s Executive Office, has been detained on suspicion of corruption.

Safizoda was caught-red-handed on April 3 while taking bribe.

He is also suspected of untargeted use of state funds, a source at one of Tajik power-wielding structures told Asia-Plus in an interview.

By president’s decree Safizoda was relieved of his post of head the Center for Information and Communications Technologies at President’s Executive Office on April 4.
