Known Tajik poets and writers attend festival of book in Kulob

KULOB, March 13, Asia-Plus -- A delegation comprising 20 known Tajik poets and writers led by Mehmon Bakhti, Chairman of Tajik Writers’ Union, has attended a festival of book in the city of Kulob

The book festival staged by the Kulob mayor’s office was held in Kulob on Sunday [March 12].   

Khayrullo Tohirov, head of the culture department within the Kulob mayor’s office, has told Asia-Plus that several thousand of various books ranging from ancient manuscripts to propagation brochures in dozens of foreign languages were displayed during the festival in Kulob.  

“A best private library contest was held on sidelines of the book festival,” said Mr. Tohirov, “Journalist Rahmat Tashrifov having 4,000 volumes of books in his own library was recognized winner of the contest and Kulob Mayor, Abdujabbor Zardiyev, handed a colored TV set to him.”  

Among the festival guests were Mumin Qanoat, Gulrukhsor Safiyeva, Sattor Tursun, Hadisa Qurbonova, Safarmuhammad Ayubi, Gulnazar Keldy, etc.
