Putin reportedly promises to lift embargo on Turkish products

DUSHANBE, August 11, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Russia is expected to lift the embargo on Turkish products. According to Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the corresponding promise was made by Russia President Vladimir Putin, who met with Turkish President Recep Erdogan in St. Petersburg on August 9.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia will lift the embargo on products from Turkey, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the Turkish state-run Anadolu news agency on August 10. 

According to him, Russia and Turkey can also sign the supplementary agreement on the “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline project. 

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Turkish foreign minister said on Wednesday that Turkey and Russia have similar views on the need for a ceasefire in Syria, the provision of humanitarian aid, and a political solution to end the crisis.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan reportedly discussed the Syrian conflict at a meeting in St Petersburg on Tuesday.
