Tajik parliament speaker holds talks with his Afghan and Pakistani counterparts in St. Petersburg

DUSHANBE, November 27, 2015, Asia-Plus – Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, the head of Tajikistan’s upper house (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, heading a Tajik parliamentary delegation participated in the 8th plenary session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly (PA) in St. Petersburg on November 26.

Parliament speakers from Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan and Serbia also attended the session that endorsed a number of module laws.

On the same day, Tajik parliamentary delegation participated in the session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA).

On November 26, Ubaidulloyev also held talks with Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly (Pakistan’s lower house of parliament) and Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga (Afghanistan’s lower house of parliament) in St. Petersburg.

Ubaidulloyev and Sardar Sadiq discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan and agreements that were reached during the recent state visit of Tajik president to Pakistan.         

They also discussed bilateral cooperation between their countries within energy sector and the transit of commodities.

Ubaidulloyev and Afghan parliament speaker reportedly discussed energy, trade and security cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
